Niklas Krütten is particularly looking forward to this challenge: the 19-year-old driver from Trier will line up in the ADAC GT Masters this season.
He will drive the brand-new BMW M4 GT3 (number 10) for the Schubert Motorsport team. The former ADAC Stiftung Sport driver will share the cockpit of the 600-hp car with Britain’s Ben Green.
“The good news just keeps coming for me at the moment. First my entry in the LMP2 class with COOL Racing, now the seat at Schubert Motorsport in the ADAC GT Masters. The ADAC GT Masters is one of the strongest GT3 series in the world and I am very much looking forward to embarking on this new chapter of my career together with Schubert Motorsport. I can hardly wait to finally go racing in the new BMW M4 GT3. My first tests in the new BMW were very promising and the car looks incredibly cool. It is now all about learning a lot and quickly, in order to be able to challenge for top results soon,” says Krütten.
For the Schubert Motorsport team and the two drivers, the official pre-season test in Oschersleben from 4th to 6th April will be about fine-tuning the car set-up and internal processes. The opening two races of the 2022 German GT Championship take place on the weekend of 22nd to 24th April at the circuit in the Magdeburger Börde region. They are followed by two trips abroad, to the Red Bull Ring in Austria and Zandvoort on the North Sea coast of the Netherlands. The season then continues with the events at the Nürburgring, Lausitzring and Sachsenring, before the Hockenheimring hosts the finale in October.
Krütten will also start two NLS races in the BMW M4 GT3, in order to be ideally prepared for the legendary 24-hour race at the Nürburgring at the end of May. “My calendar is packed this year. That is obviously the ideal situation for me as a racing driver. I trained a lot during the winter and am top fit going into the season,” says Krütten.
Marcel Schmidt (team manager Schubert Motorsport): “In Niklas and Ben, we line up with two promising youngsters. We want to give these talented young drivers the opportunity to establish themselves in a professional environment on the GT3 scene. Our job this season will be to help them to fulfil their great potential.”
